The Climate and Energy Project (CEP) supports lively, informed conversations about our energy future. Our goal is to help halt the Midwest’s contributions to global warming and climate change. We support the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by increasing energy efficiency and developing renewable energies in a sustainable manner.

CEP:

  • presents balanced facts
  • connects people, organizations, and ideas
  • facilitates productive, pragmatic, long-term collaborations
  • ensures that a wide range of voices are represented

Our mission is to infuse certain core values into community, regional, and national discussions of climate and energy:

Stewardship.
Safeguarding the earth's resources for future generations.

Resilience.
Developing flexible energy and food systems that have the strength and diversity necessary to survive disruptions in climate or national security.

Balance.
Acknowledging that all energy technologies have benefits and burdens, and that citizenship demands weighing this balance carefully.

Innovation
Supporting creative implementation of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies that are environmentally and socially sustainable.
By staying on top of climate and energy issues today, CEP will help make it possible for future generations - our children and grand-children – to stay on the Plains in the future.

CEP is a project of the Land Institute in Salina, KS. CEP receives its funding from nonprofit philanthropic foundations.

Approximately two-thirds of the world’s population (along with critical infrastructure such as transportation routes, energy processing facilities, and major urban centers) are located near coastlines. All face significant threats from sea level rise.
