Programmable Thermostat

This type of thermostat allows you to program in times that your home or business should be cozy during the winter and cool during the summer – and it allows you to adjust the temperatures for times when no one is there.

For example, you can set the thermostat to go down to 58 degrees at night in an office space. Or you can leave your home at that temperature if no one will be there all day, and then program it to go up to 65 thirty minutes before you usually arrive home from work. A programmable thermostat can save you 10-20% on heating and cooling costs every year. Many utilities offer programs to help you with the costs of installing one (they usually cost around $300) so check yours and see.
