Off-Grid

When you set up your own electric generation source at your home or business (like solar or wind), you have the option of being grid-tied or going off-grid. Off-grid means that you are not connected to the grid at all, and do not have the ability to buy energy from the grid when your own source is not working. You are usually able, however, to store your excess power in a battery back-up system.
