Biosphere

Scientific name for the world of life. Life forms have managed to spread almost everywhere on the planet, from ocean abysses to the polar ice caps. The biosphere is entwined with the physical, non-living world (which is studied through earth sciences such as geology, chemistry, physics, meteorology, etc.)

Biology is the study of life, and many biologists and other scientists who study life are known as ecologists. Ecology is an interdisciplinary science, and its underlying principle is that all living things are interconnected.

Ecologists usually study life in units of ecosystems, the communities in which life exists. Nothing lives to itself – the term “ecosystem” refers to a habitat that encompasses all the living things (plants, animals, birds, microbes, etc.) coexisting within it.
