Abrupt Climate Change
Refers to the possibility that climate change can occur very rapidly, as well as gradually over time. Most theories speculate that these sudden shifts occur as a result of major trigger events such as the slowing or changing of ocean currents due to polar ice melt. Also see feedback loops.
