Home Weatherization Projects - partnerships with local civic organizations (Boy Scouts, Rotary, etc.) to weatherize homes, and promotion of state Weatherization Assistance Program. 3. CFL Challenge - a lighting switch challenge for the city. 4. Westar's Educational Programs - offering Westar's K-12 education series in Salina schools. 5. Promotion of USDA grants for efficiency - USDA 9007 REAP grants for businesses and landowners.
“Iraq and a lot of the skirmishes we are in are about energy. And I think, to put it in a nutshell, we feel it makes more sense to put wind turbines on our prairie instead of our fine young men and women under the prairie."
